ARTIST BIO
At 22 years of age, hongjoin is a SPOTIFY RADAR artist who firmly believes in the DIY process, recording, producing, and mixing all his tracks from start to finish. hongjoin's music spans across multiple genres within the alternative realm, including Indie-Pop, Alt-Rock and R&B. His music balances groovy, cinematic soundscapes with honest and hard-hitting songwriting, but knowing his way around a crowd while on stage is what makes every show a fun and unique experience for the listener.
Having opened for artists like Matt Maltese, sundial, and Ricky Montgomery, hongjoin has plenty of experience as an opening act and is looking for a tour this coming Fall.
hongjoin’s sophomore album, “KOMOREBI”, is scheduled for release on 10 May 2024. The album features diverse soundscapes that include atmospheric synthesizers, melancholic guitars, and heart-pulling strings. Komorebi { 木漏れ日 } is the Japanese word for sunlight filtered through the leaves of the trees. Without an english translation, hongjoin hopes to use music to capture the emotions that this word invokes in the listener.
Drawing inspiration from his musical influences in both the Asian and Western world, KOMOREBI is a representation of hongjoin’s desire to find harmony in life through his musicality. Born in Singapore, with roots from Taiwan and Japan, now living in Boston - 22 year old hongjoin’s sophomore album revolves around the theme of accepting the positivity that comes from being a dreamer, inviting the listener to embrace the unknown and open their heart out to embracing emotions, to take that leap of faith and choose love.
